Cargo box hatch clearance guide

An important factor when deciding on a roof top cargo carrier is the ability for your vehicle's rear hatch to still open fully once the box is mounted. With all the varieties and sizes on the market this can be a cumbersome research excercise. That's why we have created this simple reference chart containing clearance information of the most popular roof boxes on the market.

Simply follow the following steps:

1. If you have adjustable crossbars, move the front bar as far forward as possible. If your crossbars have fixed achor points, skip to step 2.
2. Open your vehicle's rear hatch all the way.
3. Measure the distance from the middle of the front crossbar to the point where the roof meets the hatch. This is the "Minimum Clearance Amount". Make a note of this measurement.
4. Now reference the table below. If your vehicle's "Minimum Clearance Amount" measures more than the number listed below, that cargo box will fit your vehicle without contacting your hatch.
